Small Kindnesses
True stories and wisdom tales about the little things we all can do to make the world a better place.

Based on the inspiration of Dr. Evelyn “Effie” Golden (Karen’s mother), learn about her life and what prompted her to become a medical doctor at the age of 22, the recipient of numerous awards, including Volunteer of the Year for the State of Michigan at age 89. She was also inducted into the Michigan Women’s Hall of Fame in 2016 (along with Diana Ross) for her role as a physician and her community service.
Karen’s performance style is both playful and serious. She animates different characters by adding sound effects and mixing in music she plays on the saxophone, recorder, hulusi, accordion, ocarina, and even the nose flute; plus a variety of folkloric instruments she has collected from around the world.
Karen can keep the attention of 2- to 102-year-olds . . .
kids, teenagers, moms and dads, and senior citizens.
Audience members always leave feeling entertained and inspired to make the world a better place.
